Criminal Justice

Crime scene investigation, tracking the chain of evidence, investigative interviewing—they’re all part of the critical and often life-saving work that law enforcement officials perform every day within the criminal justice system. At Champlain College, the Criminal Justice program provides a solid foundation for just about any job in law enforcement, corrections or investigation—or for further study in the field of law.

The curriculum is designed to teach you the social, legal and ethical issues relevant to the criminal justice profession today. You’ll learn about criminal law, policing, investigation, corrections, juvenile justice, domestic violence, incarceration and the penal system, parole and probation, and report writing.

A hands-on internship with the Vermont Medical Examiner’s office, local law enforcement or a corrections agency offers an opportunity to experience life on the job. You may also choose to spend your final semester at the Vermont Police Academy to earn Vermont certification as a police officer. [Learn more]
