At most colleges you have to wait until your third or fourth year to take in-depth courses in your major. At Champlain, we let you jump right in. You’ll take classes in your major starting in your first semester.

This unique approach — warmly embraced by our students — has real advantages. For starters, it puts you two years ahead of your peers. By junior year, you’ll likely be working an internship, landing a great summer job and zeroing in on a rewarding career. It also gives Champlain students earlier focus and professional direction. You’ll find out right away if your major is right for you. Ultimately, the Upside-Down Curriculum lets you enjoy sooner what college is all about — following your passion.

If you're an undeclared major, you'll have up to two years before you must decide your program of study. Students use this opportunity to discover new passions and professional options through our many elective courses.
