When we ask students why they chose Champlain College, most say that they were intrigued by our Upside-Down Curriculum, internships in most majors and our exceptionally high job placement rate. They speak highly of Champlain's small classes and personal contact with professors who are devoted teachers. They love our location in Burlington and our amazing residence halls.
What Makes a Champlain Student?
- The Burlington campus is home to about 1,950 full-time, undergraduate students.
- Champlain students come from 32 states and 17 foreign countries; 80% come from outside Vermont
- The student body is approximately 44% female and 56% male
- Our students are recommended by their high school counselors and teachers as committed, independent students who have the motivation, intellectual curiosity and ability to grow both academically and professionally
- Our students are unusually entrepreneurial and interested in community service
- In high school, Champlain students pursued a college preparatory curriculum with five academic courses per semester, including a minimum of:
- 3 years of college preparatory mathematics, through at least Algebra II. Many students take Pre-Calculus, Calculus or AP Calculus as juniors or seniors
- 4 years of college preparatory English
- 4 years of college preparatory Social Studies/History
- 3 years of lab science (4 years for allied health applicants)
- The middle 50% of our admitted student SATs scores is approximately: verbal 500-590 (25-75%) math 500-610 (25-75%). Please note: these scores have risen steadily in recent years and we anticipate the same in 2007 and beyond
